How long does it take before I can start using Pono?
When you purchase one of the Pono packages, we'll get working right away on getting your Pono system set up. We'll contact you within one business day, and in most cases everything will be ready for you by then. We'll send you a quick introduction email with links to our support pages, the "getting started" video guide and everything else that you need so that you can start using your website and apps immediately.

Which features are included?
Every Pono package includes all of the features and functionality that you can see on the Features page. The different packages are restricted only by the number of clients that you can have, there are however no restrictions whatsoever on which features you are able to access and what you can do with them. You will have access to all of Pono's features even during the free trial period.

What is included on the website?
Every single feature shown on our Features page is included on your Pono website. You can easily control which features are active, and which clients have access to which ones. You can choose to use whichever ones you want, however you want.

What is included on the mobile apps?
Pono has iOS and Android mobile apps. The iOS app is for Apple iPhone, the Android app is for any device running the Android operating system (Google, Samsung etc).

As with the website, you can easily control which features are active on the app, and which clients have access to which ones. You can choose to use whichever ones you want, however you want. Your clients can download the app onto their device, sign in, and use all of the features that you want them to.
All Pono packages include both apps, iOS and Android. You can upload a logo, choose the color scheme, and customize various other options for your apps in the Pono admin to make them perfectly match your business.
The "unlimited" Pono package includes a fully custom branded app, released in your own App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) account.

What does "active clients" mean?
The "unlimited" Pono package places no limits whatsoever on how many clients you can have. The other packages have a client limit — for example 50 active clients, or 100 active clients.
By "active" we mean clients who you are currently working with and who have an active program. Let's say, for example, that you are selling 3 month coaching packages. When a client signs up, a three month program will be created and during that time the client is "active", i.e. they have an active program. At the end of the three months, if the client decides to keep working with you then you can extend the program and they will remain active, but if they do not then they will no longer have an active program. You will still be able to see their previous history, and if you want then you can still let them sign in on your website and mobile app too, but if they sign in then they will only be able to see their previous data, they will not be able to send you any messages or chats or submit any new check-ins etc as they will not be in active coaching.
If you hit your limit — for example, you have a package for 100 clients and your one hundredth active client starts a program — then everything will continue working but new client programs will not be activated until you either upgrade your subscription or until some existing client programs end.

How can I learn how to use Pono?
Pono is the most powerful and versatile tool that you can get to transform your entire online business. Of course, with this power and versatility come countless options for configuring and setting things up. But the newest 2024 Pono comes with something totally new — an ultra simplified admin, together with built in guides and pre-configured workflows, to help you get up and running very quickly.
We also provide extensive support center with a getting started video guide, as well as a video library to walk you through every part of Pono and show you how to use it and get the most out of it.
For most businesses this is all that you need, but we do also offer assisted setup, one-off video chats or ongoing support if you need it.

What if I need more support?
We want you to get the absolute most out of your new Pono system, and if you need some help getting things set up then we're more than happy to help. We offer an assisted setup which will start with a quick video chat to talk about what you want to set up (or just emails if you prefer). We'll then give suggestions and recommendations as to the best way to get everything set up, we'll answer all of your questions, and we'll point you in the right direction to exactly which parts of the system you need to look at and which instructional videos you need to watch. The idea here is that you are setting things up yourself — because in doing so you are learning how to use the system and gaining full control over everything so that you can manage your entire website and mobile app yourself. But we're here for you, you can email any time that you have questions and if you find that you are getting stuck then we'll do a second video call and go through anything that you need help with together.
For most businesses the online documentation and video guides in our support center are enough. And for most others, unless you have a complex workflow or a very large number of coaches and clients, this assisted setup during your first month is enough to get you perfectly set up. We also offer one-off video support chats that you can book any time. And if you feel that you need more then we can provide whatever level of individual support that you need.

What if I need custom development work?
Pono is built in such a way that we can customize existing features or even build totally new features quickly, on the website and in the mobile apps. We work a lot with larger businesses who have extremely intricate workflows and we have built powerful functionality that has helped them transform their business. We can work on an individual project basis and build something very specific for you, or we can work longer term on a month to month agreement where we create whatever you need.

Do I need to already have a website?
If you don't have a website, or you want to keep Pono totally separate, then we'll set your Pono system up on our ponoapp.com domain. Your site will be something like mysite.ponoapp.com.
If you already have a website then you can have Pono running the backend portal and the members-only areas of your website and keep your existing frontend website. That means that the frontend of your website, that anyone who visits it sees, can be powered by any popular system (such as WordPress, Shopify, Wix etc) and you can design it however you like. Somewhere on your site you would simply put a button that lets your clients log in to the Pono client portal, and that would run in a subdomain. If your main website is example.com then your Pono client portal might run in clients.example.com or members.example.com or portal.example.com or coaching.example.com — it can be any name you like.
That is the approach that we recommend for most businesses, to let you either keep your existing website or give you total flexibility in any type of new website that you want to create.
Alternatively though, you can use Pono to power your entire website. This capability is already built in, for example this website that you're looking at right now is of course 100% powered by Pono. It's easy for you to add in new pages with a modern and clean design. You can choose from a range of pre-built layouts and upload images or backgrounds, add in some text, and with a few clicks you can quickly put a page together.

Can I process my client's payments?
Pono has built-in payment processing, all that you need for this is a Stripe account. You can open one for free at stripe.com, you only pay Stripe's processing fees when you actually process a payment. We do not charge any processing fees, please check Stripe's website to see the fees that they will charge you.
Once you have a Stripe account, you can connect it to Pono with just a few clicks.
Pono also supports payment processing through PayPal and Authorize.Net. Both can be easily connected in the Pono admin, please note though that Pono is optimized for Stripe and some advanced payment features and reports may only support Stripe.

What about hosting, storage and email?
Your Pono monthly subscription includes hosting, either on our ponoapp.com domain or on a domain that you own. If it's on your domain then we'll give you easy instructions on how to connect any domain that you own (like example.com) to your new Pono system. If you already have a website and you'd like to keep that as your website frontend then Pono will run in a subdomain such as portal.example.com, or clients.example.com (or whatever you would like to call it).
We include 500GB data storage and 500GB monthly data transfer in all of the monthly subscriptions. Unless you have a very large business (at least several thousand clients), this will be more than enough.
Your website can send out emails to your clients, for example confirmations (such as when they place an order), reminders (such as when they have a form to fill out, a check-in is due, or a payment fails) and messages from their coach. We include 50,000 monthly emails in all of the monthly subscriptions. Again, unless you have a very large business, this will be more than enough. If you do need more then we charge $1 per additional 1,000 emails per month — for example, if you send out 100,000 monthly emails then you would be billed $50, in addition to your monthly subscription. Please note that we are only referring here to emails that are sent out directly from your website, this has nothing to do with emails that you send in your normal email program.
We work with partner companies in order to offer the hosting, storage and email, and have been very careful to only choose world leading providers who offer dependable, reliable and quality services.
For web hosting, we work with a number of leading hosting providers with lightning fast, secure servers, for example Amazon, Linode and OVHcloud.
For data storage, we work with Amazon S3 and OVHcloud.
For sending emails, we work with Mailgun.
If you have a large number of clients, if your website has heavy traffic, or you're working with large data then we offer various upgrade options that let you increase the power of the hosting — from virtual private servers all the way up to very powerful dedicated servers — and you can also easily connect your own Amazon S3 and Mailgun accounts for storage and emails.

What about future updates?
Pono is in very active development, we listening to feedback from all businesses using Pono and are constantly improving and evolving the website and mobile apps and adding in cool new features and functionality. Over the last few years we have released on average ten major upgrades with significant new features each year as well as hundreds of smaller updates. In 2022 and 2023 we released new iOS and Android mobile apps, several brand new features, a total of 22 major upgrades and countless other improvements. The newest Pono, released in May 2024, includes a totally new and greatly improved admin built from scratch, a fully features food logger in the mobile apps, exciting new AI features and much more.
With your Pono monthly subscription you automatically receive all updates as soon as they are available.

Can I change or cancel my subscription any time?
Yes, you can change or cancel all ongoing services at any time.
You can change your subscription to a larger or smaller package (i.e. number of allowed clients) any time. If you upgrade to a larger number of clients then you will be billed the prorated difference for the current month and gain access to the higher level immediately, and you will then be billed the new, higher price starting with the following month's subscription payment. If you downgrade to a smaller number of clients then you will keep access to your current number of clients until the end of the current subscription period and be billed the new, lower price starting with the following month's subscription payment.
If you would like to completely cancel your subscription then we keep it fair and simple so the cancellation notice is just 72 hours and takes effect at the end of the billing period. For example, if you have a service that renews on the 30th of each month and you were to cancel it on June 26th then the cancellation would take effect on June 30th; if you were to cancel it on June 27th then the cancellation would take effect on July 30th.
